This painting was inspired by the birth of our most recent calf "January Jones", she was born on a cloudy, rainy day on our ranch in Ohio in early January. The background depicts the water laying in the pasture with a dreary gray sky and the cow standing in mud at the opening of the barn overlooking the pasture.
